DESCRIPTION:

CNR is the largest public research entity of Italy, its duty is to carry out, promote, spread, transfer and improve research activities in the main sectors of knowledge growth and of its applications for the scientific, technological, economic and social development of Italy.

IRPPS is an interdisciplinary research institute of CNR that conducts studies on social policies and welfare systems, on education and education policies, on policies regarding science, technology and higher education, on the relations between science and society, on the creation/access/dissemination of knowledge and information technology, on demographic and migration issues.

The Research Unit ‘Social Studies of Science, Education, Communication’ conducts research and experimentation on the major aspects of science education and public communication of science.

The Rome section of the Research Unit has a strong experience in education and in design and implementation of participatory methodologies, with particular expertise in participatory activities addressed to teachers and students. The Research Unit participated in several national and international projects on these topics, such as Biohead-Citizen (FP6), REPOPA (FP7), SciCafé 2.0 (FP7) DESCI (Erasmus Plus Program- KA2) DIYPES (Erasmus Plus Program- KA2).

Among the others, the Research Unit developed the educational methodology PAS Ethics & Polemics which was awarded as European best practice by the European project FORM-IT Take Part in Research.
